Maoist leader held with antique idol
LALITPUR, OCT 14 - A district-level leader of the UCPN (Maoist) was arrested on Friday in Lalitpur with a stolen idol. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police apprehended Gangaram Gole, an advisor to the Maoist Lalitpur District Committee, with three accomplices from Takhel.
CIB officials refused to divulge details of the accomplices before preliminary investigation and confirmation of their guilt.
“We have arrested some people with a stolen idol. Since our investigation is in the preliminary stage, we are not in a position to give additional information,” said CIB chief DIG Upendra Kanta Aryal.
The arrests were made based on intelligence inputs, police said. The idol is said to be of historical importance.
