KATHMANDU, OCT 12 -

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has called on Non-Resident Nepalese (NRN) to invest with confidence for the economic and social transformation of the country.

"There is no such situation internally though it seems there is political transition and instability in the country, externally. The government is ready to create proper environment for investment, be confidence to invest," he said.

Inaugurating the Fifth International Conference of NRN today, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai said a separate cell has been formed at the Prime Minister's Office to look after the economic sector after he became Prime Minister and it has given fruitful results.

He urged the NRNs living in different corners of the world to use their knowledge, skill, and experience for the prosperity of the country and informed that Nepal was going to mark 2012 as an investment year.

The government is going to bring special economic policy package to increase the per capita income to 3,000 dollars from 400 dollars. "Nepal is not a small market to invest," said Dr. Bhattarai.

The peace and constitution writing processes have reached their final phases and the result will come very soon, he said. High-level positive discussions among the political parties are underway to conclude the peace and promulgate new constitution, he said.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha said the government has been creating investment-friendly environment for the financial and social development, and urged the NRNs to use their talents and experiences for the country's development.

He said the government has started to distribute NRNs with identity cards and forwarded legal steps to give due recognition to the NRN Association and create environment for investment.

Association Chairman Devman Hirachan demanded to manage the provision for dual citizenship.

Former chairman of the Association Dr. Upendra Mahato and NRN Darshan Rauniyar demanded to create proper environment for the investment in the country.

NRN representatives from 56 countries have participated in the three-day long conference, which will discuss possible economic and social development of the country.
