5th NRN Global Conference kicks off
KATHMANDU, OCT 12 -
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Wednesday inaugurated the fifth Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) Global Conference at Tribhuvan Army Officers' Club in Sundhara, Kathmandu.
Inaugurating the conference, Prime Minister Bhattarai underscored the need for economic development and foreign investment in the country.
He urged the NRNs to utilise knowledge, skill, gained from international arena in the country.
During the conference, the prime minister said the government is committed for the economic development, thus, urged the NRNs for the support and added that favourable environment should be created for the employment opportunities.
He also urged the NRNs to cooperate with the government as it has been planning to announce 2012 and 2013 as ‘Investment Year’.
He said the present government is committed to take the peace process to a logical conclusion and promulgate new constitution on time.
Also on the occasion, Foreign Affairs Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha said the government is committed to address all the issues of the NRNs.
The conference that will continue till October 14 will elect consensus candidate for the post of president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA).
Till now, two-current NRNA President Dev Man Hirachan and Vice President Jiba Lamichhane- have announced their candidacy for the top post.
