Govt appoints chairmen of revenue tribunals

KATHMANDU, OCT 10 - The Cabinet meeting on Monday handed over the responsibility to prepare the final draft of the Code of Conduct for ministers and civil servants to Prime Minster Baburam Bhattarai.

Likewise, the government has selected four justices of the Appellate Courts as chairmen of four Revenue Tribunals that look after revenue related cases.

On the recommendation of the Judicial Council, the government appointed Patan Appellate Court Justice Dipak Kumar Karki as the chairman of Kathmandu Revenue Tribunal, Biratnagar Appellate Court Justice Giriraj Poudel as chief of Biratnagar tribunal, Pokhara Appellate Court Justice Madhav Chalise as the chairman of Pokhara tribunal and Nepalgunj Appellate Court Justice Prakash Dhungana as the chair of Nepalgunj tribunal, government sources confirmed.

Similarly, the Cabinet meet agreed to form a national committee led by Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Nanda Kumar Datta to celebrate International Year of Cooperatives 2012.

The government has also decided to form an implementation committee headed by Uma Kant Jha, Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, to carry out necessary preparations to mark the International Year of Cooperatives.
