KATHMANDU, OCT 08 - Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang has stepped up discussions with the various political leaders in a bid to iron out the differences perked up in the peace and statute drafting processes.

The CA chair initiated parleys after the leaders showed reluctance in utilising the festive time in finding a common ground on the twin issues.

Nembang held meeting with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter residence in Nayabazar, Kathmandu on Saturday and urged him to initiate discussions with the other party leaders to muster the chances of consensus shortly after the Dashain festival.

Emerging from the meet, Nembang said that he had drawn the attention of the Maoist chair over the magnitude of consensus among the parties for the completion of the peace process and statute drafting. He also informed the Maoist supremo over the affect of internal disputes in his party on the increasingly fragile peace process, sources said.

In response, Dahal reportedly assured Nembang that the internal dispute in his party will not affect the twin tasks of peace and statute drafting processes.

Maoist chairman also informed Nembang that he had been in constant touch with the party leaders and would not baffle the expectation of the people regarding the twin issue.

Meanwhile, Nembang also met Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar this afternoon. The duo reportedly discussed the politcal scenario of the nation.
