KATHMANDU, OCT 08 - CPN-UML leader Bhim Rawal is another member of the Special Committee for Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of Maoist combatants.

A Standing Committee meeting of UML held on Saturday took a decision to this effect. Of the two quotas allotted to the party since the formation of the Special Committee, one seat was lying vacant following the resignation of the government led by UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal. Prime Minister automatically leads the committee as coordinator. UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel is the other member of the party in the Special Committee.

"The meeting recommended Rawal as member of the Special Committee recognising his contributions to the peace process in the past," said UML Vice-Chairman Ashok Rai. Rawal, who is a close aide of UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, adopts relatively hard-line approach on army integration issues. Before Khanal took charge of the Special Committee, Rawal had worked as its member.

The meeting has also deferred a Central Committee meeting scheduled to take place on October 13 till the third week of November. "The meeting was put off as the leaders could not prepare a political document to be presented in the meeting," said Rai.
