KATHMANDU, OCT 02 - CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel has accused the UCPN (Maoist) of trying to form another army within the Nepal Army (NA) in the name of integration process.

Speaking at a programme organised by the Center for Democracy and Development and Takshashila Academy to mark the International Day of Non-Violence in the Capital on Sunday, Pokharel said, "Maoists are trying to form their own separate directorate inside the NA, which won’t be acceptable to the UML at any cost.”

Pokharel claimed that Maoists have not done anything concrete for the welfare of general public though they have been pretending to be doing something to show the media and people.

He also said that the Maoists were reluctant to end their violent nature even after entering into the main stream politics and the peace process.

“It is wrong on the Maoists’ part to show violent nature at a time when the party itself is taking the reins of nation’s executive head,” Pokharel said.

Stating that thinking capacity of the leadership was on a constant downfall, Pokharel lashed out at the leadership debate over the prime minister and party president chair.

On the occasion, Pokharel expressed his concern about the media’s role in wrongfully presenting the political parties.

“Media broadcast all the political parties as similar,” Pokharel said. “It would be better if they elaborate our weaknesses and mistakes so that we could realise our wrongdoings and improve ourselves,” he added.
