Govt hikes combatants’ salary
KATHMANDU, OCT 02 - The government has raised the salary of the UCPN (Maoist) combatants on Sunday.
The Cabinet meeting today decided to hike the wages of the combatants from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 6500 each.
Every personnel of the PLA army cantoned in rural areas will receive additional 112 rupees and those in urban areas shall receive additional 70 rupees for food.
The then government led by Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had raised the salary of the combatants from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000.
There are altogether 19,575 Maoist combatants cantoned at various camps.
Likewise, the Cabinet decided to send a 9-member delegation to accompany President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav during his upcoming Quatar visit.
It has been reported that president’s daughter Anita, Foreign Affairs Secretary Durga Bhattarai, private doctors would be included in the delegation.
President Yadav is scheduled to depart for Quatar on October 10 for a four-day visit in the invitation of Qatari Amir.
