UML secy urges Maoists, NC to give up stances
SANKHUSABHA, SEP 29 - CPN-UML Secretary Shankar Pokharel urged the UCPN (Maoist) and the Nepali Congress to adopt the path similar to that of his party by giving up their stances.
The nation would strive on the path to prosperity only if the Nepali Congress, which has shown reluctance to embrace the achievement made through the People’s Movement II, and the Maoist that is dissatisfied with the change give up their stances, he said.
Speaking at an interaction organised in Chainpur, Sankhuwasabha district on Thursday, the UML leader took strong exception to the “anti-national” remarks made by Defense Minister Sarat Singh Bhandari. He demanded the government clarify the defence minister’s remarks that 22 Tarai districts could dissociate if they are not taken into consideration.
He added that the four-point pact between the Maoists and the Madhesi Morcha was against the national interest.
