KATHMANDU, SEP 26 - The Nepali Congress (NC) has formed a task force in a bid to iron out the internal controversy surfaced after the party decided to scrap it sister organisations.

Leaders and activists of the NC close to senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba have been taking strong reservations over the party decision.

In the six-member task force, NC General Secretary Krishna Sitaula, Central member Ram Sharan Mahat and Narhari Acharya have represented the establishment faction while, NC leaders Khumbahadur Khada, Gopalman Shrestha and Purna Bahadru Khadka represent the dissenting Deuba faction.

Earlier, a meeting between two faction held to discuss the controversy following the dissolution of four sister organisations including Nepal Tarun Dal and Nepal Women Association, did not make much headway.

Deuba faction has flatly refused the proposal of the establishment faction to break the hunger-strike and come for an agreement.

Deuba faction has said that until the decision to resolve the party sister organisations is reversed, talks would not progress further.

Meanwhile, the hunger-strike staged by youth leaders representing both the groups—Deuba faction and establishment faction—one in the support and the other opposing the party decision to scrap the NC sister organisations is still continuing.

Out of the 32 leaders protesting against the party decision, 11 have been admitted to hospital.
