Pokharel hits out at ‘Indian influence’
PARBAT, SEP 26 -
CPN-UML Secretary and former Communications Minister Shanker Pokharel has accused Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai of running the government under the influence of India.
Speaking at a press meet organised by the Parbat chapter of Press Chautari, Monday morning, Pokharel said Bhattarai-led government is running with the support from India and warned that it will only take the nation towards conflict.
"Bhattarai has been riding Indian vehicle for a cheap promotion," Pokharel said.
He added, “The government’s 'suicidal' decision to allow Indian Army to enter Nepal implies that this government is totally against the country."
He said Bhattarai's promise to take the peace process to a logical conclusion within 45 days seems doomed, thus, he challenged him to abide by the promise.
"Bhattarai has been solitude from his own party due to key handover issue, thus, there is doubt over the completion of the peace process and timely statute," Pokharel added.
Also on the occasion, Pokharel said the UML will assist the government in statute drafting by staying in the opposition bench.
