Distribution of subsidised food starts in Mugu
MUGU, SEP 25 -
Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) started distributing subsidised food on the occasion of Dashain in Mugu district on Friday.
Mugu branch office of the NFC said that around 5,000 households at Karkibada, Pina, Ruga, Roba, Shreenagar and Rara VDCs will avail of the programme. It said that a household will get 15 kg of food. NFC office chief Bhim Thapa said Chinese rice, sona mansuli rice, Makawanpur rice and large grain rice are being sold at Rs 30, 37, 37 and 30 per kg respectively.
The office said that it has only 1,100 quintals of food and the stock will exhaust within a week. Employee at the NFC branch, Rana Bahadur Rawal said the office has been facing food crisis since the last fiscal year, when around 1,100 out of the 21,600 quintals of food allocated for the district could not be supplied due to the monsoon. Thapa said that the office has demanded around 30,000 quintals of subsidised food for the district this fiscal year.
