KATHMANDU, SEP 24 -

The Ministry of Commerce and Supplies (MoCS) has opened a section to receive complaints about black marketing, artificial price hikes, adulteration and hoarding of essential commodities in the market through hotline, email and fax.

The ministry said that it could take on-the-spot action against anyone found involved in such misdeeds that will directly and indirectly affect consumers.

Consumers can dial telephone number 01-4211608, fax 01-4211167 or email info@mocs.np of the ministry and the department’s hotline number 01-4243939 to lodge complaints about improper practices happening in the market, according to the ministry.

“We will take action immediately after the complaints are lodged,” said Commerce and Supplies Minister Lekh Raj Bhatta at an interaction here on Friday.

Following the ongoing surprise market inspection, he said that the government was committed to ensuring a business friendly environment to traders who are doing business in a fair manner.

However, the government will be stern in punishing wrongdoers.

Meanwhile, Minister Bhatta said that the government had requested Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for uninterrupted supply of petroleum products for the upcoming festivals.

“All the departments under the ministry have informed me that there will not be any interruption in the supply of essentials goods during the festive period,” said Bhatta.
