MANILA, SEP 21 -

Police say two suspects on a motorcycle lobbed a hand grenade into a karaoke bar in a northern Philippine town, killing five people and wounding seven.

The casualties in Tuesday evening's attack in La Paz town in Tarlac province included bar workers, customers and bystanders.

Provincial police director Alfred Corpus quoted witnesses as saying the attackers passed in front of the bar several times before hurling the grenade at people sitting just outside the establishment. He said the suspects fled.

Regional police official Edgardo Ladao said Wednesday that the bar owner survived and will be questioned. He said authorities are initially looking into a personal feud a motive for the attack.
