ROLPA, SEP 18 - Seven persons, including three of a family, were buried alive in a landslide at Ruinibang in Mijhing VDC of Rolpa district on Saturday morning.

The landslide triggered by heavy rainfall buried eight houses and damaged a few others at around 3 am, police said. Some local inhabitants survived the incident by fleeing while 18 others were rescued alive.

The deceased have been identified as Nal Bahadur Budhathoki of Seram-7 in Rolpa, Kali Pariyar of Gumchal-3 in Rolpa and her two children—five-year-old son Mintu and three-year-old daughter Nisha.

While, Juntara Pun of Arghakhanchi, Dipak and Prem Pariyar of Kapilvastu were killed in the natural calamity.

More than 70 personnel from the Nepal Police and the Nepal Army had reached the incident site soon after the landslide. The security personnel, with the help of locals, recovered the bodies on Saturday afternoon.

“I fled the house as I saw the landslide falling. It was dark and raining so I could not save my wife and children,” said Tul Bahadur Pariyar, husband of Kali. Their eldest son Resham was rescued alive.
