Poudel rules out constitution before integration
EKANTIPUR REPORT, SEP 17 - Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel ruled out the possibility of drafting the new constitution before the integration of Maoist combatants. He said the peace process should be concluded for writing the new constitution.
Speaking at a programme organised in Bhaktapur on Saturday, Poudel said his party was not obstruction to the peace and constitution.
“The Congress wants to see the strict adherence to 12-point pact, Comprehensive Peace Agreement, Interim Constitution and various agreements signed in the presence of UNMIN by all sides,” said the NC leader.
The peace process is currently facing problems as the Maoists have been deviating from agreements relating to the peace process such as management of combatants’ weapons and vacating the cantonments, he said.
He underlined the need to strive for writing the new constitution by making federal republic Nepal as the formula.
