KATHMANDU, SEP 17 - UCPN (Maoist) combatants have said that they have no objection to the process of regrouping. They have also demanded that there should be provision of cash incentive for those willing to go for voluntary retirement and that the terms and conditions of rehabilitation package should be clarified.

Speaking to Kantipur Television, Deputy Commander of Maoist combatants Chandra Prakash Khanal said that following the regrouping of combatants, the issue of rank harmonisation can be settled.

“For regrouping, two issues are compulsory to be solved. First, the amount in case of voluntary retirement has to be fixed and secondly, the overall modality for rehabilitation programme,” said Khanal.

Saying that there should be honourable integration of Maoist army, Khanal said if the past pacts are not followed, the country might land in serious crisis.

“If the army integration process in not concluded properly and if the parties fail to decide as per the agreement and system, then revolution is inevitable,” added Khanal.

Khanal also expressed unhappiness over the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML not approving the Maoists’ rehabilitation package.
