SINDHULI, SEP 16 - UCPN (Maoist) secretary CP Gajurel has warned that the party would split if the establishment faction does not apologise over the key handover scandal in the upcoming party Central Committee meet.

Gajurel stressed on the need for unity in the party at this juncture as it is not clear about the factional strength.

He claimed that there is no plan on his side to split the party. But the party could split if any advantage to the revolution is seen, he added.

Speaking at a press conference organised in Sindhulimadi, he termed the protests by the cadres of establishment faction in Ilam and Sunsari districts as “waywardness” and said that such behaviour would stain the unity in the party.

He also accused the Maoists of shouldering the agendas of Tarai-based political parties and said that the four-point agreement was the not the agenda of the Maoist.

Broaching the issue of keys handover, Gajurel said the move to hand over the keys, without being asked for, was “surrender-ism”.

Gajurel mentioned that it was clearly known on whose wish Baburam Bhattarai was elected as a prime minister after the government was formed on the four-point deal that also included the desires of India.
