KATHMANDU, SEP 16 -

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal Friday said that he was upbeat about forging a consensus among the political parties on the peace process and statute drafting within few days.

Dahal also said that the Maoist would initiate the work on the twin task unilaterally if the parties became reluctant towrds the same.

He expressed his hopes that consensus would be formed on the five disputed issues relating to the peace process after holding talks with the parties. The parties are yet to decide on the number, modality, relief packages, among other issues, in the integration of the Maoist combatants.

Recalling the agreement with the CPN-UML before Baburam Bhattarai was elected as a prime minister, Dahal said, ‘a written agreement was only to be signed.’

Speaking in a television programme, Dahal said the leaders have become matured enough after the time span of 2-3 years.
