Peace, statute through consensus: PM
KATHMANDU, SEP 11 - Prime Minister Baburam Bhattari on Sunday said the peace and statute drafting processes could be settled only if there was political consensus.
In the meeting of the parliamentary State Affairs Committee, the prime minister claimed that his government was committed to the twin tasks.
He added that since peace and constitution writing were interrelated issues, they should be dealt with simultaneously.
PM Bhattarai also said that the peace process was inching ahead as per expectations.
Bhattari said there were just a few issues of number, package and registration regarding the peace process. The prime minister said the government was making necessary preparations for the regrouping of UCPN (Maoist) combatants.
