Nepal football has busy Oct
KATHMANDU, SEP 09 -
The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) President Ganesh Thapa on Thursday announced that the men’s national team will play two friendlies in October against Philippines and Cambodia U-23 team to expedite their preparations for the up-coming SAFF Championship.
Thapa disseminated this at a programme organised to reward the men and women footballers with cash incentives of Rs 50,000 each for their performances in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers and SAFF Women’s Championship. All 23 members of the men’s team, including officials, and 20 members of the women’s team were rewarded.
“Nepal will play against Philippines on October 11 and will meet Cambodia on October 28,” Thapa informed. The home team will start training immediately after Dashain, he added.
Earlier on April, the men’s football team had made it through to the finals of AFC Challenge Cup held at the Dashrath Stadium. Nepal had finished second with four points from one win, one loss and one draw. Likewise, the women’s team settled for silver, losing to India 1-0 in the SAFF Women’s Championship at Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh.
