KATHMANDU, SEP 07 -

If you are thinking of buying a new motorcycle or car, you don’t want to miss the NADA Auto Show 2011. A number of products, in both the two-wheeler and four-wheeler segments, are scheduled to launch during the event.

Fans of high-end powerful motorcycles should check out the stalls of Syakar Company and MAW Enterprises. Syakar, authorised distributor of Honda motorcycles in Nepal, will be unveiling two new high-end motorcycles — the Honda CB1000R and the New Honda CB600F. The Honda CB1000R is equipped with a 998 cc fuel injected four-cylinder while the New Honda CB600F has a 599 cc liquid-cooled four-stroke engine.

“The NADA Auto Show is a common platform where visitors can witness multiple brands and get to know about them under the same roof. Likewise, it is also a suitable occasion to introduce the latest machines,” said NADA president Saurav Jyoti, who is also director of Syakar Company. The CB1000R costs Rs 2.2 million and the CB600F Rs 1.8 million.

MAW Enterprises, authorised distributor of Yamaha motorcycles, will be displaying two bikes in the high-end segment and launching one in the commuter segment. The two high-end bikes and the star attractions at MAW’s stall are the Yamaha R6 and the Yamaha XJ6. The 600 cc machines are being introduced targeting users who love powerful bikes. These two bikes will go on sales after one month, said MAW. The Yamaha R6 is expected to cost around Rs 1.7 million and the XJ6 around Rs 1.2 million. The company also plans to formally launch the new variant of the FZ motorcycle.

Another prominent player in the domestic two-wheeler market, HH Bajaj, sole authorised distributor of Bajaj motorcycles, is introducing two new variants of the Bajaj Pulsar 220 cc. “We were planning to offer something new at the NADA Auto Show. The new Pulsar 220 cc will be available in unique graphics and distinct colour options,” said Chiranjibi Shah, deputy general manager of HH Bajaj. According to Shah, the full faring Pulsar 220 cc is priced at Rs 244,900 and the half faring machine is priced at Rs 234,900.

There is also something new for four-wheeler lovers. Pooja International, sole authorised distributor of Volkswagen in Nepal, is launching two new cars, the VW New Polo and the VW Vento. “The new cars are expected to build excitement among visitors and fans of Volkswagen,” said Sarik Bogati, assistant marketing manager at Pooja International. “A petrol version of the VW Polo and diesel and petrol versions of the VW Vento will be launched at the NADA Auto Show.” The VW New Polo is a small car, which is expected to cost between Rs 2.5 to 3 million. Likewise, the VW Vento is a sedan car from the German auto maker.

“As we are relatively new compared to other brands, we are aiming to promote Volkswagen. We have mobilized the best resources and designed the stall as per Volkswagen’s international guidelines to strengthen our presence,” said Bogati.

Similarly, Agni Incorporated, authorised distributor of Mahindra and Mahindra in Nepal, is unveiling the Thar, a compact SUV, at the auto show. “We have already started the importing process. The SUV is likely to be here by the NADA Auto Show,” said Gyan P Chamling, head of operation and marketing department at Agni Incorporated. According to Chamling, the machine will be priced below Rs 3 million.

Continental Associates, sole authorised distributor of KIA automobiles, will be launching the New KIA Picanto. “The new vehicle has come with a complete makeover,” said Sachin Aryal, deputy general manager of Continental Associates. “We could not participate in the last edition of the auto show due to various reasons. Therefore, we are quite hopeful this year,” said Aryal. The company is yet to finalize the price of the auto.
