FM Pun vows to bring economy on track
KATHMANDU, SEP 05 - Newly-appointed Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun on Monday said he would try to ensure that economy remained on track during the transition period.
Talking to reporters after assuming his office today, the finance minister said allegations that someone without the understanding of economy could not be a finance minister was people’s inability to accept change.
However, Pun did not comment on financial plans. He said it was more important to deal with politics first instead of economy as the nation was in a transitional phase.
Pun directed the ministry officials to adhere to economic discipline and financial prudence.
Pun added that he would give continuity to employment programme introduced by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai during his tenure as the finance minister.
The finance minister said he would speak on his financial priorities after a week once he has studied the current situation on the front.
