KATHMANDU, AUG 31 - Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works, Purna Prasad Kadriya took official leave on Tuesday, two weeks ahead of his retirement.

According to a learned source, Kadriya, who officially retires on Sept 13, stopped coming to office from Tuesday. He informed the employees at the Ministry that he would not return to the office. By the time his official leave completes, Kadriya, 58, would have retired due to his age bar.

Senior Joint Secretary Narayan Gopal Malego has been appointed as the Acting Secretary of the Ministry.

The Ministry of Law and Justice is also being run in the absence of secretary after its Secretary Madhav Poudel retired two months ago.

Likewise, the post of secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been lying vacant since the retirement of Madan Kumar Bhattarai on Thursday. Joint Secretary Durga Prasad Bhattarai would work as Acting Secretary in the Ministry.

The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee is due to conduct hearings on Secretary Bhattarai, who has been recommended as ambassador to Japan.
