KATHMANDU, AUG 31 - France welcomed the election of Dr. Baburam Bhattarai as Prime Minister of Nepal.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the French Embassy in Kathmandu expressed its hope that the last prime ministerial elections would allow the establishment of a stable and sustainable government in Nepal.
“With the extension of the mandate of the Constituent Assembly, this election will allow the establishment of a stable and sustainable government action, able to meet the challenges faced by Nepal's young democracy, the first of those being completing the process peace,” the statement read.
The embassy reiterated its strong support to Nepal through the UN and the European Union.
