First Cabinet meet calls on parties to come onboard
KATHMANDU, AUG 29 - Newly-elected Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai conducted the first-ever Cabinet meeting after being elevated to the post and called on all the political parties to join the government under his leadership.
The Cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Singha Durbar decided to invite all the political parties to join the government, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar said.
PM Bhattarai and DPM Gachhadar held the first Cabinet meeting after taking their official oath amid a special function at the President’s Office in Shital Niwas, Maharajgunj.
Gachhadar informed the meeting has decided to extend the Constituent Assembly (CA)’s term by three months as proposed by the former government under outgoing Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal.
Also, the Cabinet has decided to offer condolences to all the martyrs who were killed during the Maoist people’s movement, people’s war, Madhesi movement and backward community’s agitation and honour those injured during the movement.
