UML, SLMM meet indecisive
KATHMANDU, AUG 27 -
A meeting between the CPN-UML and the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) ended inconclusively on Saturday.
It has been reported that the meeting held at the UML's parliamentary party office in Singhadurbar failed to decide upon whom to support in the prime ministerial election.
The UML and the SLMM have said that they can not support the UCPN (Maoist) at the time when the peace process is not heading towards conclusion.
"The UML and the SLMM have similar views on the peace process, we can not support Maoist at this phase," UML leader Bhim Rawal said.
UML leaders except Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal and the SLMM leaders were present at the meeting.
Meanwhile, UML Standing Committee meeting is scheduled to take place today and the SLMM is also due to hold talks with the Nepali Congress and Maoist, Rawal added.
Likewise, Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) Chairman Mahendra Yadav said the SLMM will study the action plan of the Maoist and the NC.
"We will publicise our opinion after analyzing the action plan of both the parties, we are yet to decide our vote," Yadav added.
It has been reported that during the meeting, some of the SLMM leaders opined that they will support Maoist in the prime ministerial race if it makes some amendments in its action plan.
Meanwhile, UML leaders have said that they can not support Maoist at the recent time as they are still not clear on army integration proposal.
