NAWALPARASI, AUG 26 -
Police have arrested a man in possession of large amount of counterfeit Nepali currency on Thursday night. Shiva Ram Bhatta, 44, of Bhikuri-4, Nuwakot was arrested along with 112 fake notes of Rs. 1000 by district police from Rajhar in the district.
Police confiscated fake notes worth Rs. 112,000 and some fake ornaments from Bhatta, DSP Mukunda Marashini informed. Acting on a tip-off, Bhatta was arrested from a night bus en route to Dhangadi from Kathmandu, he further added.
It was the first time the fake currencies were confiscated in such a large amount from Nawalparasi. Earlier fake notes were recovered from Kathmandu and Bhairahawa.
Meanwhile police is preparing to lodge a case against the arrestee.
