KATHMANDU, AUG 23 -

All Nepal National Free Students’ Union, the student wing of the CPN-UML, on Monday picketed District Administration Offices (DAO) across the country to press parties and lawmakers to form a national consensus government and to express commitment to writing the new constitution within the next three months.

Central leaders of the union picketed DAO, Kathmandu, for two hours from 11 am. The protest was intended to press major parties for building foundation for concluding peace process and a constitution draft before extending CA term that expires on August 29. “The past scenario has shown that the constitution cannot be drafted without forming a consensus government,” Union Vice Chairman Nawa Raj Poudel said. The student union also accused UCPN-Maoist, the largest party in the CA, of not taking the peace and constitution-writing processes seriously.
