Dahal promises consensus by 3-day deadline
KATHMANDU, AUG 22 -
UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Monday said consensus will be forged to form national consensus government within three-day extended deadline given by President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav.
Dahal said so while talking to the team of Reporters Club Nepal at his residence in Nayabazar this morning.
During the discussion, Dahal informed that the parties are inching closer in terms of integration and rehabilitation of former Maoist combatants, rehabilitation package, modality, and other issues.
“We have presented ourselves in a flexible way, we will complete the task of re-grouping within a month if consensus is forged," Dahal said.
He added, "Positive discussions were held on Sunday, thus, there is possibility of forging consensus within the deadline.
However, the Maoist supreme said there is less chance of forming national consensus government despite the possibility of consensus in the peace process.
"It is not easy to form national consensus government," Dahal added.
Also on the occasion, Dahal expressed his firm belief that majority government will be formed under the leadership of party Vice Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai.
Saying that the Maoist has proposed to integrate around 8000 and NC and CPN-UML around 6000 combatants, Dahal added that rehabilitation issue will resolve if the parties show optimum flexibility over the matter.
