Krishna Janmastami being observed

KATHMANDU, AUG 21 -  

Hindu people all over the country are observing Krishna Janmashtami on Sunday.

Meanwhile President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has wished all the Hindus on the occasion of Shree Krishna Janmastami. He wished all the Nepalese to be united for the protection of Nationality.

President Yadav visited the Krishna Temple at Patan Durbar Square and received Tika and Prasad from the priest after worshipping on Sunday morning.

Devotees are queuing up in famous Krishna temples in Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and other places since early this morning to mark Sri Krishna Janmasthami,

The day is celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Sri Krishna, an incarnation of the Hindu deity Vishnu.

According to Hindu mythology, Krishna was born at midnight in a jail, where his maternal uncle Kansa had held his parents captive.

Devotees solemnize the festival with lots of joy and enthusiasm and throng to the temples of Lord Krishna.
