One hundred twenty-four pillars have gone missing from the Nepal-India border touched by the district, police said.
Of more such pillars, 48 have been found, Superintendent of Police Ram Prakash Shrestha said. He added that of the total 899 pillars (48 big, 77 middle-sized and 774 small) in the district, only 825 are in existence while the rest are missing.
During an inspection carried out by the police, the pillars were found in a dilapidated condition.
