UML CC meet deferred
KATHMANDU, AUG 16 -
The Central Committee meeting of the CPN-UML that was called on Tuesday morning has been postponed until Aug 22.
The meeting was postponed, as the party needs more time to discuss national consensus government and fill the vacuum that surfaced following Jhala Nath Khanal’s resignation from the prime ministerial post.
The meeting that was summoned by party Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal has been postponed until Monday as the party needs to conjure a proper plan for consensus government, said UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel.
Pokharel stated that UML would hold talks with candidates for the government premiership – UCPN (Maoist) and Nepali Congress (NC) – for establishing a national consensus government and assured that UML would play a vital role in the process.
Earlier, then Prime Minister and Party Chairman Khanal had announced his resignation from the premiership following the CC meet held on Sunday.
