KATHMANDU, AUG 10 - The Legislature-Parliament meeting resumed on Wednesday after Prime Minster Jhala Nath Khanal expressed his commitment to resign from his post if the peace process fails to gain tangible progress by Aug 13.

The main opposition Nepal Congress (NC) had obstructed the Parliamentary proceedings for eight straight times demanding immediate resignation from the prime minister.

The NC lifted the House obstruction after Deputy Prime Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari read out the statement at the Parliament on behalf of Prime Minister Khanal.

The prime minister has reiterated, in the statement, that the purpose of the government would end if the peace process fails to see significant progress by Aug 13 and hence, he would step down from the post.

PM Khanal had already stated his commitment in public that he would tender his resignation by Aug 13 sans progress in peace.

As soon as the House resumed, the Parliamentary probe committee formed to look into the leakage of budget document and the Parliamentary monitoring committee to ensure implementation of the five-point deal, have tabled their report in the House.
