MORANG, AUG 09 - Cadres of the ruling CPN-UML aligned Youth Association Nepal, Morang chapter enforced bandh in Biratnagar on Tuesday demanding the withdrawal of case against Parshuram Basnet, prime accused of the murderous attack on journalist Khilanath Dhakal.
The Morang District Court has issued arrest warrant to Basnet on the charge of abducting and making attempts to murder Biratnagar-based journalist Dhakal on June 5.
Normal life in Biratnagar have been affected due to bandh called by YAN cadres all of a sudden demanding the withdrawal of sub-judice case of Basnet.
Police filed abduction and murder case in the district court against YAN, Morang Vice-chairperson Parshuram Basnet and his close aides Rohit Koirala and Manoj Rai of the same organization after a FIR was registered by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Morang chapter.
Koirala and Rai, who were arrested from court premises, have been sent to judicial custody while mastermind of the incident Basnet, currently absconding, was issued warrant to be available in the court within 70 days.
The bandh has panicked passengers and locals much. RSS
