Police to reconstruct stations destroyed during insurgency
KATHMANDU, AUG 03 - The Nepal Police Headquarters has decided to speed up the reconstruction and reestablishment of the police offices that were destroyed during the UCPN (Maoist) insurgency.
The headquarters has decided to reconstruct 68 police stations that were destroyed across the country.
The decision was announced at the inauguration of the Banke district-based Kohalpur Police Station on Wednesday.
A police squad led by IGP Rabindra Pratap Shah conducted a study of the security of the Mid Western Region, which was the hub of the Maoist insurgency.
It was also announced that along with the enhanced police security at Kohalpur, there would be speedy establishment of riot control police in order to curb the increasing crime rate in the region.
