Fresh mandate essential for peace, statute: Gachhadar
BIRATNAGAR, AUG 02 -
Madhesi Janadhikar Forum – Loktantrik (MJF-L) Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar on Tuesday said that a fresh people’s mandate is necessary as the major parties failed to conclude the peace process and constitution drafting.
Stating that the major parties have failed to conclude peace and statute on time, Gachhadar said that the fourth major force, Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM), should take the responsibility now. He also said that the government should opt for a fresh people’s mandate.
Talking to the media persons at Biratnagar Airport, said that the SLMM is ready for a fresh people’s mandate given that the major parties do not take peace and statute seriously and do not hand over the responsibility to the SLMM.
Stating that Prime Minister administered the swearing-in of the UCPN (Maoist) leaders against the sentiment of the five-point deal, he said, “Prime Minister Khanal transgressed the sentiment of the pact although he was supposed to be its caretaker.”
Gachhadar said that Khanal should resign from his post on moral grounds as his government has not shown any progress on peace and statute even after extending the Constituent Assembly (CA) deadline.
Gachhadar stated that the SLMM would be staging protests for a proper political outlet from Aug 8, and for that, they are holding talks with their constituent allies. “We are determined to play decisive role for the execution of the five-point deal and to conclude the peace process and constitution drafting,” said Gachhadar.
Claiming that the constitution would not be drafted within Aug 31, and peace and statute would not gain any pace, Gachhadar said that a national government is quintessential for the process to move ahead.
