Maoists changes mind on support to govt
KATHMANDU, JUL 31 - The UCPN (Maoist), a key ally of the current coalition government, has put aside its threat to withdraw support to the government after what it said "positive talks" with Prime Minister Jhala Natha Khanal.
The party had been warning to withdraw support to the government if the prime minister did not induct the new minister-nominees to the Cabinet.
Organising a press conference at the party headquarters in Paris Danda, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said the party will continue its support to the current government as the dialogues with PM Khanal is positive.
“The dialogue with PM Khanal regarding the swearing-in of Maoist ministers was positive,” said Dahal.
Earlier today, Dahal had met PM Khanal at the latter’s residence.
Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had submitted the resignation letters of his party’s ministers to PM Khanal late Saturday evening warning to withdraw support to the government if he failed to reshuffle the cabinet by Sunday.
