NAWALPARASI, JUL 31 -

Following differences between the school management committee and teachers, the Nawalparasi-based Samata School has been closed on Thursday.

The school decided to close classes for five days after 34 teachers resigned en masse on Friday.

The school, which has its branch across the nation, has gained popularity in a short period for imparting quality education to its pupils for Rs 150 monthly fee.  All teachers except Principal Sheshkanta Rimal resigned collectively saying that their demands including salary hike went unheard.

A teacher said they put in paper following heated disputes over salary hike and acknowledgement of their contribution by the management committee. The management committee approved their resignation the same day. A meeting of the management and teachers was held on Saturday to seek solution to the problems. Director of the school Binod Pandey said the teachers agitated at the direction of teachers working in other schools. The school has been paying each teacher up to Rs 8000 monthly salary.
