KATHAMANDU, JUL 21 - Nepali Congress (NC) has expressed concern over the stalemate in the process of UCPN (Maoist) combatants’ integration and rehabilitation.

At an informal meeting of the office bearers held at the residence of party President Sushil Koirala in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu on Thursday, the participating leaders expressed concern over non-implementation of the five-point deal.

“The Maoists have done nothing to support the management of combatants or the draft of constitution,” said NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi, talking to reporters after the meeting.

“On the other hand, the prime minister has not resigned yet to make way for the formation of a national consensus government.”

Similarly, another NC leader Ram Sharan Mahat said, “Thousands of people have been displaced in Dang, Kailali and Kanchanpur districts and their properties are being captured by the Maoists.” He added that the party must raise the issue strongly.

The meeting also dwelt on the strategies to table issue in the Parliamentary meeting on July 24, sources said.

Likewise, the NC office bearers meeting also discussed the agendas for the party Central Committee meeting slated for July 26.

However, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba was not present at the meeting.
