New APF chief assumes office
KATHMANDU, JUL 18 - Newly appointed officiating chief of Armed Police Force (APF) Kishor Kumar Lama assumed office at APF Headquarters in Halchowk on Monday.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara pinned insignia on Lama as the acting APF chief amid a function organised at the ministry. Mahara said Lama could set a new precedent through a new vision and policy in his brief stint in office. On Sunday, the government promoted AIG Lama to the coveted post for less than two weeks before his retirement on July 30.
The newly appointed chief vowed to perform an effective leadership role in his shortest tenure in the history of the armed police. He would take initiatives to make the force more professional, specialised and modern. Lama started his career in Nepal Police in 1981. AIG Shailendera Shrestha will take over him.
