One more dies of diarrhoea in Palpa
PALPA, JUL 15 -
Fifty-five-year-old Man Kumari BK has been the latest victim of diarrhoea outbreak in Galdha VDC in Palpa district. With this, the death toll from the water-borne disease has reached four.
BK, a resident of Galdha-3, died while undergoing treatment at the Tansen-based Palpa Mission Hospital. She was brought to the hospital three days ago after she suffered from diarrhoea.
The hospital source said that the seriously ill BK was brought to the hospital late and she breathed her last due to dehydration.
"Although diarrhoea was under control the following day she was admitted to the hospital, Man Kumari died due to dehydration," said Dr Niranjan Sharma. He said the hospital could not save her as she was brought to the hospital in the last minute.
However, District Public Health Office (DPHO) Palpa claimed that the cause of BK's death was not diarrhoea. "She had been suffering from diarrhoea but it is not diarrhoea that took her life. She died of some other diseases," said DPHO chief Mahendradhoj Adhikari.
Four persons died and dozens were taken ill due to the diarrhoea outbreak in Galdha VDC since last week.
DPHO conducted a two-day health camp in the affected area and claimed that the disease has been contained.
