24 Maoist lawmakers want Thapa as next PM
KATHMANDU, JUL 14 - UCPN (Maoist) lawmakers representing various ethnic and indigenous nationalities have demanded that the party’s General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa should lead the government that will be formed as per the five-point demand.
On Thursday, 24 Maoists lawmakers led by the party’s politburo member Gopal Khumbu called on Maoists Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in this regard.
The lawmakers also urged the party’s chair to implement the five-point agreement at the earliest. Majority of the lawmakers fielding Thapa as the prime ministerial candidate are close to Dahal.
Thapa will likely be pitted against the party’s Vice Chairman Baburam Bhattarai, whose name has also been put up for the premier’s post.
