‘People’s multiparty democracy misconstrued’
KATHMANDU, JUL 10 -
CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel on Sunday urged the UML leaders and cadres not to interpret people’s multiparty democracy, UML’s political philosophy propounded by the late Madan Bhandari, on their own ways.
Addressing the second meeting of the National Convention Representative Council of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Union (GEFONT) today, he said leaders of other political parties allege that the UML is operating without ideology and there is no uniformity in its philosophy within the leaders and cadres.
Pokharel said the main theme of the people’s multiparty democracy is peaceful transformation of the society.
On the occasion, he acknowledged that the UML was facing allegations from different quarters of the society as the party enjoyed power in the past by interpreting its political doctrine in tune with the time.
Trade union leaders from 64 districts marked their participation in the GEFONT meet.
GEFONT Chairman Bishnu Rimal and Council Chairman Mukunda Neupane also expressed their opinions on the occasion.
