KATHMANDU, JUL 10 - Five Central Committee members from the Upendra Yadav-led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Nepal have defected to Jaya Prakash Gupta-led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Ganatantrik.
According to Gupta, Khaled Siddiqi, Abdul Jabbar, Umesh Lal Das, Ganesh Yadav and Sitaram Agrawal entered the party, accusing Yadav of failing to promote the cause of Madhes. MJF-N leader Arjun Thapa said these Central Committee (CC) members were absent in the CC meeting called after the split of the party in May. "We knew that they were with J P Gupta. Only formal declaration was to be made," Thapa added.
However, Upendra Yadav has denied any knowledge of the defection. "Party has not received any formal information in this regard," Yadav said. J P Gupta had formed MJF-G by splitting the Parliamentary Party of MJF-N with 13 lawmakers out of 25 on May 23.
