BHAKTAPUR, JUL 08 -

UCPN (Maoist) Standing Committee Member Dev Gurung remarked on Friday that the government could weaken because of insufficient discussions on the policies and programmes presented at the Legislature Parliament.

Speaking at an interaction on “current political deadlock and its solution” organised organised in Bhaktapur, Gurung said the government did not hold effective coordination even while preparing the policies and programmes and annual budget.

He said it is very unfortunate that the government did not discuss the programmes and policies among its allies. Gurung said that these mistakes need to be rectified as soon as possible.

Claiming that the PLA integration is a major factor for concluding the peace process, Gurung said that the integration process is facing hurdles as the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML are opting for individual integration of the combatants rather than a bulk integration as agreed earlier.

Gurung said that according to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement the Maoist combatants should be integrated into the Nepal Army, but NC and UML have wrongly interpreted the pact.
