JTMM detonates pressure cooker bomb
GULARIYA, JUL 07 -
Janatantrik Tarai Madhes Mukti Party, an active armed outfit the Tarai region, detonated a ‘pressure-cooker bomb’ or Improvised Explosive Device at the Gulariya customs office on Thursday morning.
The rear side of the office building has been slightly damaged due to the explosion. No human casualty has been reported so far, the District Police Office, Bardiya, said.
It is suspected that the underground outfit might have carried out the bomb explosion with the intention of extortion by spreading terror. However, Pawan Singh, the Tharuhat on-charge of the party, refutes this.
Singh said his party has exploded the bomb as a warning to the customs office as it collected unnecessary customs charges and harassed Nepali farmers living near the Nepal-India.
Police have been mobilised in the area, according to the District Police Office, Bardiya.
