‘PLA integration standard should also be applied to NA’

KATHMANDU, JUL 02 - UCPN (Maoist) leader Dev Gurung has remarked on Saturday that the proposal to hand over the weapons of the Maoist combatants should also be applied to Nepal Army personnel as well.
Speaking at a programme organised at the Reporter’s Club today, the Maoist leader said that army integration standard should be applied to Nepal Army personnel also.
“If the combatants are to depart from weapons, then a standard should be set for other security forces too,” said Gurung. “The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will not surrender.”
The integration process should be carried out as per the Comprehensive Peace Accord, he added.
The leader went on to say that the proposal put forth by the Nepal Army regarding PLA integration will not be acceptable to the Maoists.
