PM, Maoists discuss annual policy

KATHMANDU, JUL 01 -
Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal and UCPN (Maoist) leaders Friday agreed to finalise government’s annual policies and programmes, considering the challenges of the transitional phase.
During the meeting held at the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwater this morning, the prime minister and the leaders agreed to bring the annual policies and programmes on consensus among the parties taking into account the latest political scenario, prime minister’s press advisor Surya Thapa informed.
Maoist Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal, Vice Chairmen Mohan Baidya, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Narayan Kaji Shrestha, likewise, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari, Defence Minister Bishnu Poudel and Energy Minister Gokarna Bista were present at the meeting that lasted for about two hours.
It has been reported that the prime minister is due to hold budget discussion with other political parties this evening.
President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav is scheduled to present the government's annual policies and programmes in the House, coming Sunday.
