Prime Minister and chief patron of Nepal Academy Jhala Nath Khanal said the academy has made an important contribution for the promotion of art, culture, literature and philosophy.

Inaugurating the 25th academicians’ assembly in the Capital on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said Nepal, despite being a small country, is rich in art, civilisation and culture.

The country has to be transformed respecting the aspirations of Jana Andolan II and the failure to end the ongoing transition period could invite a counter revolution, he said urging academicians to assist in taking the country into the right direction.

Reiterating commitment to conclude peace process and constitution drafting, he pledged support to develop the country’s art, culture and language.

At the function, patron of the academy and Culture Minister Khagendra Prasad Prasai said the academicians should utilise their knowledge to make the country popular in the world.
